Medical device distribution is the core of Kawanishi group's business. Through our interaction with customers, we endeavor to operate a cost effective business that is both therapeutically effective and patient friendly.

It has been widely acknowledged that the Japanese medical industry is in a period of transition, triggered by recent financial and safety problems combined with new requirements for Informed Consent and patient selection of medical treatment. Prompted by these changes, the medical industry is constantly adapting to meet the varying needs of medical and welfare institutions. To facilitate the changing needs of society and our customers, over the past several years we have developed our business in medical information systems, equipment maintenance, and supply process management meeting the front-line needs of the medical industry.

Furthermore, in order to expand our presence and services in the clinical and general life science markets, in June 2006 we acquired Takatsuka Life Science Co. Ltd., which specializes in the basic research and clinical testing of trial reagents.

Kawanishi Holdings Inc's role is to improve the group's overall operating resources by utilizing human capital and developing new services, while accelerating development of the entire life science business through the integration and organization of each of our subsidiary's operating resources. We also encourage the morale of the group through the establishment of internal control systems that surpass minimum legal requirements, and are dedicated to measuring up to shareholder trust and expectations.

Finally, we believe that it is essential to consider the medical and healthcare industries along the same lines as education, which is not driven solely by financial reasons. The first clause of Kawanishi is Corporate Policy reflects this reasoning.
